The Tefft House Policies
Reservations
Room rates do not include the Minnesota Sales Tax of 6.5 percent. Rooms must be reserved with a major credit card. We gladly accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. Payment must be received at the time of check-out. Payment may be through cash, traveler's check, or credit card. Rates are subject to change without notice.
Cancellations
Cancellations must be made at least 10 days prior to arrival. Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to arrival will be charged the full room rate for one night. If the room is resold, we will issue a gift certificate for the full room charge.
Check In
Ordinarily, check in is between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. If you plan to arrive later than 6:00 p.m., please notify the innkeeper so special arrangements can be made.
Check Out
Ordinarily, check out is at 11:00 a.m. Payment is due at the time of check out.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served promptly at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Coffee and tea are available at 7:30 a.m. We will make every effort to accommodate your special dietary needs. Please convey any dietary concerns when you make reservations or at check-in. A continental breakfast is available Monday through Friday mornings. Please make arrangements with your innkeepers for breakfast times.
Green Policy
The Tefft House is an environmentally friendly establishment. To do our part for the environment, we recycle newspaper, plastic, glass, and aluminum. We remove these items from the garbage to ensure they are recycled.
Every day, tons of detergent and millions of gallons of water are used to wash hotel linens. If you wish to help us in reducing the use of detergent, energy, and water, please hang your towels on the rack. That will tell us you will use your towels again. Leaving your towels in the bathtub will tell us you would like fresh towels. We always change our bed linens between guests. If you would like your bed linens changed more frequently, please let us know. We will be happy to accommodate your wishes.
Smoking
For the safety and comfort of our guests, smoking is not permitted in the Tefft House. For our guests who smoke, we have provided ash trays on the deck (second floor) and patio (main floor) located at the rear of the house. If the smoking policy is violated, the guest will be required to leave immediately and will be assessed a $200 fee to cover the cost of cleaning. An additional fee may be charged to cover any loss of income while the house is being cleaned.
Candles
Due to the risk of fire, only approved candles may be used in the Tefft House. Floating candles (for use in the bath tubs), votive candles, and candles in jars are generally approved. Soy candles or other candles that burn cleanly are preferred. Please let the innkeepers know if you plan to burn candles in your room.
Pets
We regret we cannot accommodate pets. We can assist you in making arrangements for your pet to stay at a local kennel.
Children
Children are welcome with prior approval. Please inquire when you are making your reservations.
